What To Expect On Your First Chiropractic Visit

On your first visit chiropractor Littleton office, plan to spend about 45-minutes at our Littleton chiropractic office, as we thoroughly go over your medical history. Our chiropractors will go over your related medical history to try and figure out what’s bothering you as part of our consultation and exam.

Some common questions you may be asked include but are not limited to:

Where do you feel the pain?

On a scale of 1-10, how bad is the pain?

Is the pain the result of an injury like a car accident, or something else?

Describe the pain (is it a dull or sharp pain, does it shoot down your side, etc.)?

Do any activities make it better or worse?

Our office will also ask questions about what activities you do, and what you do for a living to help create a customized treatment plan for you. For instance, if you love hiking, but your low back pain has prevented you from going on recent hikes, they’ll work to provide top quality care to get you back in action.

If you sit a desk for extended periods of time or drive for long periods of time, our team will show you practical stretches to keep your body moving.

It’s important for our medical team to get a complete understanding of what your aches and pains are and how we can prevent them with regular chiropractic treatment. If you have medical insurance, we can run through your plan prior to your visit as well.

What Is A Chiropractic Adjustment?

Your visit to our Littleton chiropractors will also involve a chiropractic adjustment. “Chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which trained specialists (chiropractors) use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, also known as spinal manipulation, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body’s physical function,” via MayoClinic.org.

You will be positioned on one of our adjustment tables and don’t be alarmed if you hear cracking or popping. These sounds and movements are completely normal, but this is one reason it’s incredibly important to be seen by a trained and licensed chiropractor.

What exactly is the popping sound you hear during a chiropractic adjustment?

“This is caused by small pockets of air or bubbles, which are in the fluid that surrounds your joints. When joint tissues are stretched during a chiropractic adjustment, the pockets of air “pop,” which creates that cracking sound you hear. After this treatment, you may feel more movement in your back. However, the muscles may still be sore and tight,” according to Spine Universe.

Based on the results of your exam and medical history, your chiropractic exam may also include diagnostic studies if our doctors feel they are necessary in diagnosing and treating you. Please note, that x-rays are not included in the new patient special of $29 for first-time visitors, but we will work with you to ensure your visit to our Littleton chiropractor office is easy and painless on all fronts.
